Our history
Living and working spaces affect our physical and mental health. Apart from the obvious features of size, design and aesthetics, “hidden features” are of equal, if not higher, importance. Insulation (sealing against moisture, heat, cold and noise) raises the feeling of well-being and coziness, thereby increasing happiness and productivity.
In economic terms, insulation protects the investment and guarantees energy-saving through the elimination of thermal losses and wear of structural elements. Proper insulation is a synonym to energy efficiency, economies of scale and protection of the environment.
The rapid and unplanned growth of urban Greece, without proper specifications, without initial studies, without proper knowledge and without training of the technical personnel, is behind the numerous problems found in almost all constructions, even in relatively new ones.
In the course of the past decades, the stricter regulatory framework at European level and its incorporation into national practices, the need to secure energy efficiency and to protect the environment and, not least, improvements in living standards have contributed to an upgrading of construction. This has also enhanced consumer awareness and facilitated the establishment of standards and specifications from the Greek State and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Already since the ’80s, Giorgos Mavrouleas, the founder of MONOSCIENCE, had recognized the importance of strict adherence to insulation specifications, as they applied in other EU countries, and had started recording the most important errors and omissions in constructions in Greece. He examined different cases in order to identify the roots of vulnerabilities or problems and find appropriate solutions. He participated in specialized seminars, initially abroad and thereafter also in Greece, and proceeded with testing different material and various techniques. He placed emphasis on research and, in collaboration with structural and mechanical engineers, he matched all different vulnerabilities and corresponding solutions.
Today, the team of ΜΟΝΟSCIENCE comprises highly experienced and specialized engineers and technicians who share the same passion, principles and vision for a quality upgrade of buildings, infrastructure and the urban environment.
Members of our team participate in public consulting committees responsible for drafting standards, implementation rules and procedures and/or as trainers in seminars and examiners in certification tests. They have also served as members of the Governing Board of the Panhellenic Association of Insulation Enterprises, principally responsible for the scientific department of the Association and the training of its members. Finally, they have acted as advisors to the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the planning of the “Energy Saving at Home” programme.
In MONOSCIENCE we have insulated residential buildings with a total surface of more than 2,700,000 m2, public buildings of more than 200,000 m2, industrial buildings of more than 150,000 m2, hotels & leisure structures of more than 80,000 m2 and commercial buildings of more than 250,000 m2. We have conducted a very large number of studies and we often offer our services as independent consultants-experts for technical firms, architects and various engineers.
